Drodzy Przyjaciele,

Festiwal z jednej strony daje studentom możliwość prezentacji efektów poszukiwań artystycznych, z drugiej zaś wzbogaca mieszkańców Białegostoku i Podlasia, proponując im możliwość obejrzenia ciekawych spektakli, małych form teatralnych i wystaw. Przed nami zatem czas eksperymentów, poszukiwań, a przede wszystkim wzajemnych inspiracji.

Dear Friends,
I welcome You in Bialystok. The end of June is the time, when we can celebrate a special event… Ahead of us – for the ninth time – the International Festival of Puppetry Schools. It is a unique meeting, one of a kind, a meeting of young artists and one of the most important cultural events in our  region, which once more accompanies the celebration of The Days of the City of Bialystok. Between 19th and 23th June 2018, Bialystok will again become a capital, or perhaps a little “University” would sound more appropriate, of broadly understood puppetry art. And for the first time, the Festival will mark its trace not only in Bialystok but also in the region of Podlasie, by presenting performances in Lomza, Suprasl and Suwalki. This year, we will see performances from 11 puppetry schools from 8 countries accompanied by presentations of professional theatres and numerous workshops, exhibitions, concerts and installations. It is worth mentioning that within the Festival, we celebrate 65 years of artistic activity of Bialystok Puppet Theatre.

The International Festival of Puppetry Schools has been organized every two years since 2002. Its main aim is the initiation of discussions concerning tradition, the newest artistic trends in puppetry art, which, in turn, gives a unique chance to meet people from the world of theatre, and to strengthen the existing contacts with other schools and professional theatres. On one hand, the Festival gives  students an opportunity to present the effects of their artistic search, on the other enriches the inhabitants of Bialystok and Podlasie region by offering them the possibility to see interesting performances, little theatrical forms and exhibitions. It is the time of experiments and quests, but most of all the time of mutual inspirations.

I am convinced that our meeting will allow to cross new barriers while discovering the charms of live form theatre. I believe that everyone is able to choose something for themselves from the Festival’s rich program and will leave Bialystok filled with unforgettable experiences, emotions, excitements, still curious of new people…
